Prince Andrew Settles Sexual Assault Case

Former Royal to Lose 'HRH' Status

Allegations Against Duke of York Consistently Denied

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, has settled a civil sexual assault case brought against him in the US by Virginia Giuffre. The settlement brings an end to a long-running legal battle that has damaged the reputation of the British royal family.

Prince Andrew, who is the third child and second son of Queen Elizabeth II, was once a popular figure in the UK. He served as a helicopter pilot in the Royal Navy and was a war hero during the Falklands War. However, his reputation has been tarnished in recent years by allegations of sexual misconduct.

In 2019, Virginia Giuffre filed a lawsuit against Prince Andrew, alleging that he had sexually assaulted her when she was 17 years old. Prince Andrew has consistently denied the allegations, and he said in an interview with BBC Newsnight in 2019 that he had no recollection of ever meeting Giuffre.

The settlement of the case does not mean that Prince Andrew has admitted any wrongdoing. However, it does bring an end to the legal proceedings and it is likely to have a significant impact on his life.

A royal source said that Prince Andrew will no longer be called His Royal Highness or HRH. Like Harry and Meghan, Prince Andrew retains his title, but he will no longer use it in an official capacity.
